HYDERABAD: A ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party leader was killed by unidentified persons suspected to be his own party members in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The body of TRS leader V Srinivasa Rao, 40, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, was found near an under construction building at Sanathnagar on Thursday morning. Police said Rao was hit with a wooden log on the head and later his head was smashed with boulders.

Police also found four empty disposable glasses at the spot suggesting that the victim along with nearly three others had consumed alcohol at the under construction site on Wednesday night. They are currently on the lookout for the three suspects.

Rao, who also runs the VS Rao Educational Consultancy at Balkampet, had earlier registered a complaint with the police saying that he was threatened by his own party activists. In fact, he was once attacked by local TRS activists.

Srinivasa Rao also faces three cases including two cases related to family disputes. His wife currently lives in Malaysia.
