HYDERABAD: In the sensational case of illegal conversion of minor children from Hinduism to Islam, the Rachakonda police would question the accused to find out his alleged links with Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) president Zakir Naik, sources said. It is learnt that the news about the illegal conversion racket being taken place at the Peace Orphan Home Society at Malkajgiri in the city, was shared by the intelligence agencies, who also reportedly found that the prime accused Mohammed Siddiqi alias Satyanarayana has links with Zakir Naik.

Satyanarayana, a native of Rajahmundry, had converted to Christianity from Hinduism in his early age, and later to Islam.  Sources close to the intelligence agencies said, “Siddiqi was reportedly under the influence of Zakir Naik of the IRF. He is suspected to have met Zakir.”

Based on the inputs with regard to conversion of minors at Peace Orphan Home Society, the premises was raided on Sunday from where 17 minors including seven girls, hailing from remote areas were rescued and shifted to state-run homes. Speaking to Express, Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said, “As of now nothing has been confirmed. The arrested will be taken into custody to probe for their links and their sources of funding.”
