HYDERABAD: As the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) proposes to undertake development and management of specialised landscape projects, it has decided to take the support of landscape executing agencies having accomplished expertise in the execution of landscape and urban greening works.
Apart from specialised landscape projects, HMDA also aims to ensure high survivability of planting materials after the project implementation for all the landscape and urban greening plantation works undertaken by it. In this regard, HMDA would empanel specialised landscape executing agencies (agencies that have executed landscape projects on a decent scale such as international airports, special economic zones, large institutional areas, public gardens, large campus developments, multinational companies and projects of similar scale).
Apart from planning Hyderabad Metropolitan Region (HMR), another important mission of HMDA is urban forestry (UF) by undertaking block and avenue plantations, tree parks, colony parks and gardens in order to improve the overall environment of Hyderabad.
HMDA officials said that the selected and empanelled agencies are expected to take utmost care of the plantation works by duly ensuring high survivability of the plants. The agencies have to execute project as per the designs provided by HMDA.
They can also design and execute the works subject to HMDA’s approval. They will also be responsible for maintenance including watering, pruning, trimming, etc of the developed landscapes.
The execution should include, but not limited to, preparation of site plan, clearance, removal of unwanted weeds, pitting, laying of manure, procurement of plant species from designated nurseries.
In case the responsibility of supplying the plant materials rests with Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, then the landscape executing agencies would be responsible for plantation, execution, maintenance of the landscape works allotted.
