Srihari raps Tirupati Rao for delay in submission of school fee report

Breaking his silence on fee regulation issue, deputy chief minister and education minister Kadiyam Srihari on Wednesday is said to have rapped Prof Tirupati Rao and questioned the delay

HYDERABAD: Breaking his silence on fee regulation issue, deputy chief minister and education minister Kadiyam Srihari on Wednesday is said to have rapped Prof Tirupati Rao and questioned the delay in submission of his report.   In a meeting with members of the Hyderabad Schools Parents Association (HSPA) on Wednesday, he directed Prof Rao to submit the report by month end. He also assured the parents that they can expect some good news by Sankranti from the government with regard to fee regulation issue.

“HSPA is happy to note the assurances given by the minister both on the submission of the Prof  Tirupati Rao Committee report by month end and also, more importantly, on the assurance that the parents can expect some good news by Sankranti. However, given the past record in terms of not being able to keep up its word, we can only be cautiously optimistic about it,” said HSPA in a statement.

Taking cognisance of the complaint from the parents association that they are not been kept in the loop, Srihari said that a copy of the report would be made available to HSPA as well. A follow-up meeting to discuss the report in January has also been scheduled. It also suggested that the schools can be given a go-ahead on admissions, albeit, with a rider that the fee has not been increased.
