Jayaprakash Reddy faces allegations

SANGAREDDY: The district administration has begun digging deep into the past land scams that had taken place during the period of Congress governments in order to corner Congress leaders in the district. Former MLA Thurpu Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy seems to have become the latest target.
In the past, TRS leaders alleged that Jagga Reddy was involved in Aminpur land scam, which had taken place in Patancheru mandal in 2010 in the name of freedom fighters, during tenure of Congress government.

According to sources, the vigilance department, which probed into the land scam, found that followers of Jagga Reddy had encroached five acres of land under survey no. 615 with bogus papers on the name of a retired army employee, Syed Shamshoddin.

In fact, Shamshoddin in 1968 had applied to the then district collector for granting of five acres of land claiming that he had worked for Hyderabad Army. Later, his application was rejected citing that land will be allotted to those who worked in Indian Army. Although the application was rejected earlier, Shamshoddin’s son Syed Kareemuddin managed to take possession of the land in 2010.

Vigilance department, which probed into this scam, found that some officials, under pressure from ruling Congrress, had allotted the above land illegally. Joint collector Vasam Venkateshwarlu said the land under survey no. 615 belongs to government.

Officials issued notices to the party who encroached the lands and to the family members of the ex-serviceman.

‘Govt framing false cases’

Former MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy said government was framing false cases against him and added that even though government sends him to jail, he will win the 2019 elections with thumping majority.
