The procedure for obtaining gas connections under Deepam scheme has been simplified. Guidelines were issued by the state government to this effect.

HYDERABAD: The procedure for obtaining gas connections under Deepam scheme has been simplified. Guidelines were issued by the state government to this effect on Saturday.

“In order to saturate the grounding process of LPG connections to the non-LPG card holders, the system of allocation of Deepam connections from office of the commissioner of civil supplies shall be dispensed with immediate effect,” the government stated in its orders.

As per the latest guidelines, the district collectors will identify and upload all the eligible cardholders, who do not have LPG connections as per the ePDS data base. However, while selecting the beneficiaries, they will maintain the SC and ST percentage of reservation. If the SC and ST beneficiaries are more than the fixed percentage, their names will be included in the general category beneficiaries.

The non-LPG connection holders in the mandal will be targeted to provide LPG connections to the cardholders.

The district collectors /chief rationing officer in Hyderabad will make arrangements to send letters to the beneficiaries, thus, the identified are requiring to give an undertaking indicating that she is not in possession of a LPG / Deepam connection and once the connection is granted, she shall utilise for her own family and not lend it to others.
