Telangana CM more passionate follower of Hindu dharma than BJP: Rama Rao

Rama Rao recalled that without caring for his critics, Rao conducted Ayutha Chandi Maha Yagam. No one in the country organised such a massive yagam.

HYDERABAD: At a time when the BJP is trying to make inroads into Telangana, industries minister KT Rama Rao has claimed that it is chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who is passionate in following Hindu dharma rather than the BJP.

Rama Rao, who attended the foundation-laying for Telangana Brahmin Samkshema Parishad building at Gopanpally in the city on Monday, said that BJP was known as an active agent of protecting Hindu dharma. But, in Telangana, Rao became a hard nut to crack for the BJP when it came to following the Hindu dharma. Rama Rao attended the programme on behalf of his father and chief minister who was suffering from tooth ache and could not attend it.

Rama Rao recalled that without caring for his critics, Rao conducted Ayutha Chandi Maha Yagam. No one in the country organised such a massive yagam. “KCR also pushed the priests’ demand for conducting Godavari Pushkarams in Telangana. After bifurcation, the CM conducted the Pushkarams in a grand manner in Telangana,” Rama Rao said.

The minister also pointed out that KCR was developing Yadadri, Bhadradri, Vemulawada and other temples. “No other leader is playing such an active role in practising Hindu dharma while respecting other dharmas.”

Rama Rao said that the Brahmin Sadan for which he laid the foundation stone would be completed within a year. “The CM wanted the officials to complete the building within one year. He wished that Brahmin Samkshema Parishad should be a role model in the country,” Rama Rao said.

Brahmin Samkshema Parishad chairman and former IAS officer KV Ramanachary said the building would come up on 6.10 acres. “The Brahmana Sadanam, called  Vipra Hita, would provide accommodation for students preparing for competitive examinations and provide halt to various pontiffs coming to the city. It will also have a marriage hall and rooms for conducting obsequies,” he said.

Parishad vice-chairman Jwala Narasimha Rao Vanam explained the Parishad’s activities. He said that as per the wishes of the chief minister, the Parishad was taking up various activities.

AP Brahmin Parishad chairman IYR Krishna Rao, Rajya Sabha member Laxmikantha Rao, transport minister P Mahender Reddy, BJP MLC N Ramachandra Rao, TRS MLC Puranam Sateesh, roads and buildings principal secretary Sunil Sharma and others were present.
