HYDERABAD: Amid opposition and protests by the villagers to the proposed Mallanna Sagar irrigation project, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has declared that the project will be completed by next year.
“Even if some vested interests try to obstruct their construction, the projects will not be stopped,” he told a group of farmers from Narsapur Assembly constituency who met him at Pragathi Bhavan, his camp office, here on Tuesday.
Chandrasekhar Rao asked irrigation minister T Harish Rao to take steps for construction of a check dam on the Dontivagu between Brahmanapally and Gundlapally, and release of funds for it.
The chief minister also stated that by giving Rs 4,000 per acre per crop to them, farmers would be able to purchase seed, fertiliser and pesticide. If this was continued for five or six years, farmers would benefit a lot, Rao said.
