Telangana Medical Devices Park will be launched on June 17 in Sultanpur village in Patancheru mandal in Medak district.

MEDAK: Telangana Medical Devices Park will be launched on June 17 in Sultanpur village in Patancheru mandal in Medak district.

Announcing the date for the launch of medical devices park, Industries minister KT Rama Rao said on Wednesday, “Medical devices park is a dedicated ecosystem for MedTech innovation. With the launch of a dedicated, MedTech Park, Hyderabad will strengthen its ecosystem for MedTech innovation and manufacturing.”

Three-pronged approach

Promoting India specific Innovation through Incubation:  Proposed in IIIT Hyderabad, the facility will have a combination of med-tech (metal alloy work, plastics, med-electronics,etc) and biotech equipment (Dna,protein, reagents). IIIT-H will provide expertise in e&e, IoT, image/voice/data processing, etc.

Accelerator/Seed-Fund: It has been proposed to set up a Seedfund as a SeBI category 1 fund, which will select medtech startups and invest in them. The accelerator will provide seed funds (`10-50 lakh in  tranches), and also mentoring to the start-ups.

Manufacturing Infrastructure and Common Facilities: Medical devices park brings together a holistic ecosystem for setting up research as well as manufacturing units, and benefit from the scale and facilities of a larger cluster.
