HYDERABAD: Allegedly forced to work in the hostel kitchen and clean toilets, girl students of a government-run social welfare residential school in Maddur mandal of Mahbubnagar district on Thursday staged a flash protest. The students of the Social Welfare Gurukul Residential School, said they were forced to work in the kitchen. “We are also asked by the principal to clean the toilets,’’ said a student.
One of the students even climbed atop the school building on Thursday morning and threatened to end her life if the principal is not removed.

When Maddur police received the information about the protest, they rushed to the school and convinced the girl to come down. The girls complained to the police that they were not even being served proper food. The regional coordinator of the residential school Florence Rani told Express they would conduct a detailed inquiry .

Meanwhile principal Rajani refuted the allegations and asserted that she did not do anything wrong. It may be noted here that this is not the first such incident of harassment of students by teachers in the district.
A student from Wanaparthy district committed suicide by setting herself ablaze a couple of days ago after she had been reprimanded by her class teacher.
