Over 1,000 use ration portability in Telangana

HYDERABAD: On the first day of ration portability (ration from anywhere) on Sunday, over 1,000 ration card holders utilised the opportunity to take their ration from places other than the ones allotted to them.

According to the Civil Supplies department officials, the first transaction using portability took place at 6.31 am when a ration card holder V Ramesh Kumar of Vikaraband purchased PDS ration from a fair price shop at Kapra in Medchal. “Of 17,027 fair price shops, more than 1.33 lakh transactions took place at 5003 FPS in TS.

Of these, 1,002 are transactions using portability,’’ department commissioner CV Anand said.
Ration card holders from Medchal made 253 portability transactions while Rangareddy stood second (173) and Hyderabad (157).
