Land issue: Mancherial collector submits report

Hyderabad: Admitting that there were some irregularities under the government land distribution programme in Mancherial district, district collector RV Karnan told the Hyderabad High Court that a detailed enquiry has been conducted in the matter and action was under process.Of the total 178 cases, about 88 cases were found as in-eligible without following due procedure in issuance of pattadar passbooks. G Bheema Goud, husband of MPP of Nennel belonging to ruling party, was among those present in getting assigned lands. About 32.11 acres of land was assigned to the family of Bheema Goud without following due procedure of law laid down under the Assignment Act, the collector noted.After going through the report, the bench dispensed with his appearance and adjourned the case by two weeks for further hearing. The collector, in his report, stated Bheema Goud was a Singareni employee and his wife is MPP president and the family belongs to APL (Above Poverty Line). The Sub-collector Bellampally was instructed to cancel the above pattas granted to the family.

‘How can HC give orders to fulfil Centre’s promises?’

Hyderabad:A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday asked the petitioner’s counsel to show the law where the court could issue directions for implementation of the promises made by the Central government.P Srinivasa Rao, an agriculturist from Karamchedu mandal in Prakasam district, recently filed a petition before the High Court seeking directions to the Central government to accord special status to Andhra Pradesh state apart from strictly implementing the provisions of AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. He also sought directions to the authorities of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha Secretariats to conduct the Parliament proceedings / business of the House without repeated adjournments and not to pay salary and allowances to the members of both the Houses who are responsible for interrupting the House proceedings. Raising an objection for naming Secretary Generals of RS and LS Secretariats and Chief Election Commissioner of Election Commission of India as respondents to the case, the high court registry refused to number the above petition. The bench asked the petitioner’s counsel how it could issue orders for implementation of the promises made in the House.

PG admissions: HC reserves orders

Hyderabad:Arguments concluded in the petitions filed by Dr M Vasurchana Reddy and 12 others, working as medical officers / civil assistant surgeons, challenging the GOs 21 and 22 issued by the Telangana government on March 20, 2018 for awarding weightage marks in place of reservation for in-service candidates and for earmarking 50 percent of the postgraduate medical colleges to All India quota.
The petitioners sought directions to the concerned authorities to make admissions to MD/MS/PGdegree / diploma courses as per GO 27 issued by the state medical and health department on April 10, 2017.  As per GO 27 i.e. Telangana Medical Colleges (Admission into PG medical courses) Rules, 2017, about 30 percent of the seats in clinical broad specialities and 50 percent of the seats in pre and para clinical broad specialities for degree and diploma courses were reserved for in-service candidates. The government claimed that it has issued the above GOs as per the guidelines of the MCI.
