HYDERABAD: Residents of Nallagandla want storm water drains to be constructed along the six-lane road being developed in the area so that during rains, water does not get stagnated and cause traffic as well as health issues. On Thursday Ramanjeet Singh, who lives in Financial District close to Nallagandla, posted a tweet addressing Minister for Municipal and Urban Development, KT Rama Rao, which said “construction of 6-lane Nallagandla road in progress without storm water drains n pedestrian pathways, any reason for not following model road concept being promoted by GHMC.”

19 persons retweeted his tweet and some residents from Nallagandla reciprocated his sentiments. He also posted aerial pictures of the road under construction along with the tweet. He addressed the tweet to Arvind Kumar, principal secretary of Municipal and Urban Development department, and to commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, West Zone.

Hirdesh Gupta, President of Ramky One Kosmos residential society in Nallagandla, which is home to more than 470 families, said, “Our demand is that while the road is being constructed storm water drains also need to be constructed so that the government does not conduct digging works after construction of the road and create civic issues and cause obstruction to traffic.”

“Importantly, if the storm water drains are not constructed, during rains it will result in water getting stagnated along the road wherever there is slope and on roads and it will affect smooth movement of traffic in the area.”
