Telangana's government staff seek new pay revision commission, raising retirement age

HYDERABAD: Constitution of a new pay revision commission (PRC), increase of retirement age from 58 to 60 years and initiating general transfers of employees in May are among the 18 demands of the state government employees.

The Joint Action Committee of Telangana Employees, Gazetted Officers, Teachers, Pensioners and Workers of the State held a meeting with chief secretary SK Joshi at the Secretariat here on Tuesday, and submitted a memorandum with a charter of 18 demands. Employees JAC chairman K Ravindar Reddy, secretary-general V Mamatha and Telangana Employees’ Union president A Padma Chary were among the leaders who met the chief secretary.

Speaking to reporters later, Ravindar Reddy pointed out that state government employees had been working at one place for nine years without transfer. “We have submitted the draft guidelines for the general transfers. The transfers should be completed in May and before the commencement of the next academic year,” he said.

He said the minimum criteria for transfers would be two years and those  working at one place for five years or more should be transferred compulsorily.  While transferring the employees, the state government should consider the old districts as unit. Mamatha said the next pay revision commission would be due in July and requested the government to constitute it.

The other demands of the employees include enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 like in other states, reduction of the three years of minimum service to two years for giving promotion to the higher cadre and bringing back all Telangana employees who are working in AP due to the irregular allocation.
