HYDERABAD: Demanding regularisation of jobs with a fixed monthly salary on par with government staff, members of Mahila Fair Price Shop Dealers Association held a meeting on Wednesday. They also demanded an increase in commission from 20 paise for a kg of rice to 70 paise, which has not been met by government.

Speaking to media, Vasantha Mohan, a FPS dealer said that they would try and meet the Chief Minister and convince him to fulfil their demands.“The government has increased the salaries of home guards recently and from the last three years there is no remuneration to fair price shop dealers. In the state, 35 per cent of all dealers are women, 25 per cent are widows and 10 per cent are PWDs women,” she said.  They also demanded provision for electronic weighing machines with printers. According to Vasantha, the expenditure they incur on shop rents and power bills exceed the commission they receive monthly.  On Thursday, the members of Mahila Fair Price Shop dealers will gather at B R Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund and submit a representation before the statue.
