Telangana too can sell fixed assets in Andhra Pradesh: Officials

Due to the busy schedule of Home Secretary, the Home Ministry constituted a sub-committee to resolve the issues between the two states.

HYDERABAD: Defending their plans to sell part of fixed asset of Andhra Pradesh State Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation in Hyderabad, AP officials suggested Telangana too can sell their properties in AP.

“The institutions listed in IX Schedule of AP Reorganisation Act are divided proportionately. The respective States can sell their properties,” official sources in AP said. They pointed out that TS has share in the assets of Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) located in Visakhapatnam and the TS can sell its share in it, an official remarked.

Will AP would try to sell all its fixed assets in Hyderabad? The reply from the officials was that head of the department of the each of the institution listed in the IX Schedule would take a view on that. Sources said that around 50 institutions of IX Schedule have fixed assets in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the Union Home Ministry’s proposed meeting on the contentious issues between the sibling States scheduled on February 23 has been postponed.

The Home Ministry conducted a similar meeting in May 2015. Due to the busy schedule of Home Secretary, the Home Ministry constituted a sub-committee to resolve the issues between the two states. Though the meeting was scheduled after three years, the Home Ministry did not specify the agenda.
“We are preparing our arguments on every assurance listed in the 13th Schedule of the AP Reorganisation Act including railway zone, metro rails and other infrastructure,” official sources of AP said. “Besides Chief Secretaries of both the States, six to seven secretaries of various other departments from these two states are also invited to discuss about the pending assurances,” sources said.
