48 lakh Rythu Bandhu cheques distributed in Telangana: Gutha Sukhender Reddy

HYDERABAD: OF the total number of 57.89 lakh cheques to be distributed to farmers towards crop investment support under the Rythu Bandhu scheme, as many as 48.54 lakh cheques have been distributed to eligible farmers so far. Of these, 47.2 lakh cheques have been cleared and an amount of `Rs 4,914 crore has been withdrawn by the beneficiary farmers. So far, the total amount drawn by farmers is `Rs 4,913.99 crore. Disclosing this at a news conference here on Tuesday, State Farmers’ Coordination Committee chairman and MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy said that all the data collected via Rythu Bandhu Group Life Insurance Scheme would be submitted to LIC of India by July 15.

From August 15 the government will start handing over insurance policies to farmers. Each farmer would get `5 lakh life insurance cover and all farmers in the age group of 18 to 60 years are eligible to avail this scheme, he said. “We completed 90 per cent of land survey and survey of the remaining land is being done by revenue officials who are working at the grass roots level and collecting the data from farmers,” he said. “Then they collect the nominee’s information for insurance scheme.

Rythu Bandhu committee members are also working along with the officials for smooth implementation of the life insurance scheme for all farmers,” he said. Saying that the state government would pay the premium on behalf of each farmer, he claimed that the government was working to protect farmers in all aspects.
