HYDERABAD: Expressing displeasure with authorities concerned for negligence in implementing an earlier order of the court, justice P Naveen Rao of the High Court on Monday directed commissioner of school education, Telangana to appear in the court on July 27 in a contempt case filed by some DSC-1998 candidates, seeking rectification of alleged irregularities in the examination and declaration of merit list afresh.

“Many candidates have reached retirement age due to non-implementation of the earlier order of the court. You (authorities) should be sent to jail for deliberately not implementing the court order. The candidates have lost the opportunity to apply for other jobs as they have crossed the age limit. Their hopes of getting jobs on merit are shattered because of your (authorities) irresponsibility,” the judge said in caustic remarks.
When the matter came up for hearing, state’s special counsel Sanjeev Kumar submitted that records pertaining to DSC-1998 were not available, hence court orders could not be implemented.

Expressing dissatisfaction with this submission, justice Naveen Rao pointed out that the merit list was submitted when the dispute reached SC two years ago. The special counsel sought grant of some time for filing a counter affidavit.
