Government moots reopening Ballarpur paper factory

Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari directed the BILT management to furnish the proposals to reopen the factory within a week’s time.

HYDERABAD: The State government has begun efforts to reopen the rayon paper manufacturing industry - Ballarpur Industries Limited (BILT) -  in Kamalapuram in Bhupalpally district. Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari directed the BILT management to furnish the proposals to reopen the factory within a week’s time. He held a meeting with Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday regarding the same.

The ministers have informed the representatives of the BILT that the State government would provide complete support for the reopening of the closed industry. The representatives of the BILT informed the deputy chief minister that they would submit their proposals to reopen the factory within a period of one week to ten days.

It may be recalled that in 2016, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had written a letter to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart, N Chandrababu Naidu, requesting a supply of eucalyptus wood at a subsidised price for the revival of the unit.
