KHAMMAM: When five-year-old Maneesha and her three-year-old sister Manasa, who had been suffering from fever for the past two days, started from home on Monday to consult a doctor, they never thought that their lives would change forever.

They were very happy travelling on a bike borrowed by their father, Vadapalli Gandhi, from his friend. However, their happiness did not last long as their bike was hit by a speeding lorry at Gangaram village in Sattupalli mandal of the district, killing their father on the spot.  Their mother Venkateswaramma died while being shifted to hospital. Maneesha also suffered minor  injury but Manasa escaped unhurt.

Fate has been very cruel to the two kids following the untimely death of their parents leaving them orphans.  The couple were residents of Moddulagudem village of Dammapet mandal. They were going to Sattupalli to consult a doctor. The accident occurred when Gandhi was taking a turn near Gangaram village when his bike was hit by a lorry. The lorry driver fled from the scene after the incident.
Sattupalli police registered a case and  launched a search to nab the lorry driver.
