HYDERABAD: After dithering for about two weeks, the state government has appointed a new President to the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC) with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao signing a file confirming the appointment of justice MSK Jaiswal, a retired judge of the High Court. The department of consumer affairs, food and civil supplies issued GO Ms No.14 dated June 25, 2018 to this effect on Monday.
Jaiswal has been appointed as full-time president and will retire after a period of five years or till he attains the age of 67 years from the day he assumes charge. His duties include hearing 2,303 consumer dispute cases which are pending before the state commission.
He will also have to sort out state bifurcation issues besides making coordinated efforts to take possession of the court hall of the AP State Commission which is lying vacant. Jaiswal retired from the Hyderabad High Court as a judge in February this year.
