HYDERABAD: Suddenly, white Hyundai i20 cars are troubling the city police. For, five unidentified suspects who allegedly broke into locked houses in different parts of the city over the last three days have been travelling in one such vehicle. Suspected to be an interstate gang, the group went on a looting spree from Monday to Wednesday, striking only in the daytime.

A total of 10 cases have been registered so far — six under Cyberabad, three under Rachakonda and one under Hyderabad Commissionerate limits. CCTV images have captured the vehicle, but it was found sporting a fake registration number. “We have found that the vehicle was travelling on NH-7 towards Nirmal. Further probe is on to track its route,” said an official.

A massive hunt has been launched by special teams to trace the vehicle and suspects who allegedly stole valuables worth over `30 lakh. Police say the gang only targeted houses where locks were clearly visible from the main road. “Otherwise, they did not have any specific targets. They could have chosen their targets randomly while on the move,” added officials.

The first case was registered at Asif Nagar on Monday, where the gang broke into a locked independent house and decamped with gold and cash worth over `5 lakh. Later, they burgled two locked flats in Rajendranagar followed by two more flats in Hydershakote. On Wednesday, they burgled two locked houses at Vanasthalipuram.
