112 belt shops in pickle for violating code of conduct in Telangana

MAHABUBABAD: In order to conduct free and fair polls, the district police has started taking measures. The police has registered cases against 112 belt shop owners for violating the model code of conduct and bind over about 1,470 persons with criminal track record so far.

Disclosing this, North Zone IG Nagi Reddy, who visited Mahabubabad district to inspect poll preparedness on Tuesday, said that police would take stringent action against those who try to violate the model code of conduct. “We would take measures to conduct free and fair polls. Those who try to create problems would be dealt with severely,” he said.

So far about Rs 14 lakh unaccounted cash has been seized in the district during vehicle checking and 1,050 litres of ID liquor (gudumba) was seized and destroyed. About 11 licensed weapons have been deposited so far in the district.
