HYDERABAD: Former minister DK Aruna alleged that the State government was tapping the phones of Congress leaders in order to gain knowledge of their political moves.

“The TRS government is eavesdropping on the telephonic conversations of leaders belonging to the opposition parties, particularly the Congress. Its a heinous act by any ruling establishment. Further, spying on the telephonic talks of citizens by government itself would amount to curtailing of freedom of expression,” the Congress leader criticised.

Addressing media on Sunday, Aruna took strong exception to the comments made by IT Minister KT Rama Rao that the Congress leaders were creating hurdles in the construction of irrigation projects in the State by filing petitions in court. “In order to help contractors, the State government is changing the design of projects as per its whims.

Then, some of the farmers who are losing their previous agricultural lands, are approaching courts seeking fair compensation for them. What is wrong in it and how the government can point an accusing finger at the Congress for this?” she questioned. She further said that people of the State were going to defeat the TRS in the ensuing Assembly polls.

In another press meet, Congress MLA T Rammohan Reddy hit back at KTR’s tweet posted on Saturday asking the AICC president Rahul Gandhi as to why the promise of waiving crop loans at one go being made by TPCC leadership was not being implemented in the neighbouring Karnataka.

“In TS, TRS is waiving just Rs 1 lakh crop loans of each farmer, that too in four instalments. Many farmers in the State have so far not got their final instalment of loan waiver payment. But, Congress and JD(S) coalition in Karnataka announced to waive Rs 2 lakh farm loans of each ryot. Hence, the loan waiver being implemented by TRS can’t be compared with that of Congress coalition in Karnataka,” he said.
