Discord in TRS: No-trust vote against Ramagundam mayor on August 2

Putting an end to speculations, a no-confidence motion would be taken up against Ramagundam mayor Konkati Laxminarayana and deputy mayor Sankati Shanker on August 2.

PEDDAPALLI: Putting an end to speculations, a no-confidence motion would be taken up against Ramagundam mayor Konkati Laxminarayana and deputy mayor Sankati Shanker on August 2, the district collector Sridevasena announced in a press release here on Wednesday.

The decision comes in response to the notice submitted by 39 corporators, including those from the TRS, Congress and BJP, to the collector on May 5, requesting for the same.

While Laxminarayana and Ramagundam MLA Somavarapu Satyanarayana have been battling for supremacy in local politics for quite a while, their differences seem to have reached a peak now. The mayor had previously alleged that the notice for the no-trust motion against him had been issued at the behest of the MLA.

The municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao had directed Satyanarayana to ask his corporators to withdraw the notice. Though the MLA had agreed to follow the party high command’s directions, the corporators refused to do the same and went ahead with the request for the motion. Indirectly accusing the mayor of the lack of development in his constituency, the MLA announced his decision on July 9 to quit politics. However, he eventually changed his decision.  The collector said that the decision on the no-confidence motion was taken after careful consideration.

The municipal corporation will meet on August 2 at 11.30 am to take up the motion against the mayor.
