HYDERABAD: The State government has so far distributed 60 lakh sheep by spending `3,565 crore in the last one year. The 60 lakh sheep have given birth to 30 lakh lambs.
Explaining the implementation of Sheep distribution programme on the occasion of its first anniversary, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav told reporters on Wednesday that the value of the newly born 30 lakh lambs was around `1,200 crore.
Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that around 1.15 lakh beneficiaries would be given sheep under list-B, distribution for which begins from June 25.
The State minister said that the government was also releasing 80 crore fish seedlings into various water bodies this year. Last year, the officials released 51 crore fish seedlings in water bodies.
The Animal Husbandry department will also distribute buffaloes to 2.13 lakh ryots.ute buffaloes to 2.13 lakh farmers at an estimated cost of `800 crore.
