HYDERABAD: Call it negligence, or just plain ill-fate, a 25-year-old man died while he was sleeping inside a car which was submerged in rainwater in the cellar of an apartment at Jayanagar in Kukatpally on Friday night.  The matter came to light on Saturday morning when apartment residents hired workers to flush out the water from the cellar.

As per preliminary investigation, B Gopinath died possibly after being trapped in the car. The deceased was working as a security guard with Blue Field Securities. According to Kukatpally police Gopinath was hired by one Naveen Kumar who runs Blue Field Securities.  “He came to Mayuri Residency to meet his employer.  Gopinath had dinner at Naveen’s house.  Later he took car keys from Naveen stating that he would sleep in the car,’’ police said.

However, the cellar was inundated, submerging the car, and Gopinath, who was sleeping in the car, was found dead in the car on Saturday morning.  Gopinath might have been in deep sleep and may not have managed to come out,  police said. Police shifted the body to hospital for postmortem.
