Your favourite civil engineer is back!

The much-awaited Velai Illa Pattadhaari 2 teaser was released on Wednesday by Amitabh Bachchan himself on Twitter. “My friend, co-star, my friend’s son-in-law, Dhanush’s new film trailer. All the best,” read the tweet. The Dhanush-starrer’s 37-second teaser was significantly smaller than the original film’s  teaser, which was more than 50 seconds.

Samuthirakani, who plays Dhanush’s father in this film too, is seen in the teaser advising that when a man finds adversaries, it means that he’s doing good work. “It means they’re scared of him and it affirms that he’s going on the right path with his career.”

We then get a glimpse of Dhanush with his trademark VIP look complete with spectacles, beating the goons to pulp with his signature flying kicks. While one action sequence occurs in the rain, the other is set in a construction site thereby confirming that in this film too, he continues to be a civil engineer.
We don’t get to see Kajol in this teaser. The actress will be making her comeback to Tamil cinema after 20 years. The Bollywood actress who was last seen in the 1997 film Minsara Kanavu will be playing the villain in this film.

The rest of the cast that includes Amala Paul and Vivekh too don’t find presence in this teaser. The other similarity with the first installment’s teaser is the frenetic background score by Sean Roldan, who has replaced Anirudh. The teaser credits, however, continue to credit Anirudh, which  makes us wonder if the famous background score of the original film will be used in the sequel too.
With the story and dialogues penned by Dhanush himself, the film’s screenplay and direction is by his sister-in-law, Soundarya Rajinikanth.
