HYDERABAD: At the committee meeting on school fee regulation, parents association demanded that the show cause notices issued to the 162 school be made public.
The Hyderabad School Parents Association raised the issue when Independent School Management Association (ISMA) raised an objection to the 5 pc profitability and demanded that schools should keep 15 pc of the profits with them.
Director of Education G Kishan, however, intervened and said that fresh notices have been issued to erring schools.
“We ask what’s the utility of these notices if the government has no intent to act on any of these schools and why is the government, keeping the details of these notice so secretive. It should have at least been discussed by this committee,” said Ashish Naredi, of HSPA and a member of committee headed by former Osmania University V-C, Prof Tirupathi Rao.
There was also talks on making the DFRCs a statutory status and making it mandatory for schools to present data to DFRC.
Further, the committee also assured the parents that complaining against a school will not invite any action against them or their children from the school. A call for creating a charter for parents and students rights was raised supported by members.
The committee will reconvene on April 17 when all school associations and parents’ association will submit their suggestion in writing to Prof Tirupati Rao.
“After submission of Committee report on April 20 the ball will be back in government’s court and its intent will be tested. If it truly seeks a solution to this problem and to give relief to beleaguered parents, it will immediately notify a new GO to be subsequently converted into an Act passed by state legislature.
If it does not do so, it would mean that government is siding with schools association instead of parents,” said Ashish.
