Young artists experiment with material and form
Introducing the city’s first pop-up gallery, called Blueprint 12, are two young girls—Ridhi Bhalla and Mandira Lamba.
‘‘The idea of a pop-up gallery is an extension of a similar concept in fashion called FabConnection where fashion garments from leading fashion designers are previewed at a private venue for a select clientele before the clothes go on ramp or retail outlets,’’ says Ridhi, a Masters in Science from Oxford University.
Once the concept was well received in the fashion fraternity, they extended the same to the field of art.
‘‘We found that most galleries didn’t offer an opportunity for buyers and artists to spend time together. To fill that void, we initiated this concept,’’ says Mandira, a fashion graduate from FIT, New York, who as a rule encourages one-to-one appointments to help everybody make better choices.
Now that the inaugural show of Blueprint 12 is ready to be rolled out, the duo is hosting ‘Moving Matter’, a group show that will showcase works in various mediums like installation, video, photography, textile, canvas and more.
The show will be on for a special preview at C-66, Anand Niketan, from September 1 to 5, and then move for a larger public viewing to Alliance Francaise, from September 6 to 11.
