Prisoners protest to return to jail

HYDERABAD: Two mental hospitals in Andhra Pradesh—Institute of Mental Health in Erragadda, Hyderabad, and the Government Hospital for Mental Care in Visakhapatnam—are facing a peculiar problem. Some patients are not taking their food and medicines. Well, it may not sound uncommon in a mental hospital, but actually these patients are prisoners who are protesting to be taken back to their jails. These prisoners were brought by the Prisons Department for treatment,

but even after being cured the prison officials have not yet taken them back.
