NEW DELHI: Taking PM Narendra Modi’s initiative of smart cities a step ahead, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is all set to hire a team of experts, especially people with knowledge in the fields of urban infrastructure, finance, law and IT.

The NDMC is considering companies like TCS, HCL, and Wipro, with annual revenue of `250 crore in the past three years, to hire 19 experts, who will be made in charge of different projects, for two years.
These specialists will be a part of the New Delhi Municipal Council Smart City Ltd (NDMCSCL), a separate company formed for the project.

“Though the NDMC has its own force of such officials, we are recruiting these experts on the directions of Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), so that there is no conflict of interest during implementation of schemes,” said a high-ranking official in NDMC.

The 43.7 square km area comprising the Lutyens Zone was selected to be developed as Smart City in the stage two of the mission announced on December 15, 2015.

The team will take care of projects, including electric vehicles-based last mile connectivity with metro/bus, 24x7 water supply, two happiness areas and integration of all public medical facilities through cloud-based e-healthcare system, for which the NDMC will get `194 crore as first instalment.
