KOZHIKODE: For J Jayalalithaa it was none other than famous Malabar-based astrologer Parappanangadi Unnikrishna Panicker who through his astrological insights guided her to fight all odds and stay clear on her path to success.

In 2001, Panicker predicted that she would become Tamil Nadu CM. Though Panicker made the prediction, none was ready to believe it because she couldn’t contest due to criminal proceedings against her. But the AIADMK won the Assembly elections and she was made the CM as a non-elected member of the Assembly. AIADMK members were so happy with the prediction that they gifted Panicker `10 lakh. And since then Panicker became her most trusted astrologer.

People close to Panicker said the former CM maintained a cordial rapport with him and it was as per his advice that she started offering prayers at various temples. Jayalalithaa donated an elephant to Kerala’s Guruvayur temple after 2001 Assembly polls.

Reports said that she consulted Panicker before taking any major decision. After reaching 60, she was more into religious activities and took the advice of astrologers to steer clear of all hurdles.
