There are a few other Indian beauty brands that have captured the attention and adulation of buyers the way Nykaa has ever since its launch in 2012. With more than 1,000 brands that it sells through its website and 25 brick and motor stores, its turnover reached a whopping high of 570 corers in 2017-18. Now, I am not new to Nykaa.

It won my heart a long time ago but why I continue to write about it is in the way it aims to please with its sundry new launches every month. At the speed at which it’s going, there is never a dull moment in its beauty bank and that keeps the inflow of good quality, trendy, appropriately priced products steady.  From its recent portfolio, what comes as highly recommendable are three things. The Lip Crush Macaron lip balms, BB creams and the hand and nail cremes, all in various options.

Reminding me of the sweet, soft and fluffy meringue, a delicious French dessert used yo make the quintessential macrons, were these lip balms in shape of the dessert itself. There were flavours such as chocolate, lemon, blueberry, strawberry, green apple, mint, and my favourite, hazelnut.

These contain Shea butter, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil and vitamin E which explains its moistness. The lip balms claim to be sun protective but it is not something I have been able to ascertain for myself. I did miss an application stick with the product, as using bare fingers doesn’t seem hygienic enough to me.

Off the BB creams, Fresh Fawn was the colour that suited my complexion, Those with yellow skin undertones should pick the same. These cream hybrids are good blemish balms. I would have liked more coverage though. They are non-greasy, non-shiny and are easily blendable and buildable. A word of caution, if you want a tear-free experience, apply it away from the eye.

The nail cremes are pleasant smelling floral fragrances that are super hydrating. They nourish dryness and flakiness with avocado, almond oil, olive and jojoba oils. The cremes sit on the skin lightly and are paraben (a type of preservative), and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (skin irritant) free. They’re convenient to carry and come in beautifully designed tubes with prints of individual floral notes. My top pick would be FREESIA & VANILLA for its mild, sweet-smelling property.
