Ex-Pakistani High Commissioner to India got severely trolled after he re-tweeted a picture of the adult movie star, mistaking him to be a Kashmiri protester.
The ex-envoy's tweet became the centre of jokes after being highlighted by Pakistan-based journalist Naila Inayat who posted screenshots of Basit retweeting the post on Twitter.
De angrily refuted the claims, saying she had not even met Basit before January this year, and that too, when he sought a private discussion at the Jaipur Litfest, but was snubbed.
India on Wednesday said it has provided Pakistan with "actionable evidence" of the Pakistani Army's involvement in killing and mutilation of two Indian soldiers on Monday.
Basit was called in by Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar to convey India's strong views on the incident, the external affairs ministry said.
