The area which was a major bottleneck slowing down the traffic, now being fully opened, is expected to ease the traffic flow and cut down commuting time.
“Ashram Underpass (both carriageways from New Friends Colony to Bhogal and vice-versa) will be open to traffic from 8 am to 10:30 am and from 5 pm to 8 pm until April 2, 2022.
With the opening of both carriageways, traffic flow at the Ashram intersection remained smooth on Wednesday, the PWD officials said.
The construction of the 750-metre underpass project begun in 2019 which led to major chaos for the commuters due to persistent jams stretching for a maximum of two hours.
The work on the Ashram Marg started in 2019 but was delayed due to the Covid and lockdown. It will bring Relief for commuters as lakhs of vehicles cross intersections daily causing traffic snarls.
