The BJP urged the EC to impose Section 144, a prohibitory order against gathering of five or more persons, on September 30, the polling date, and deployment of central forces for its compliance.
The arrest was made by the Kolkata Police's Cyber Crime Cell on a complaint lodged by a resident of Kalighat, the area where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lives, police said.
Banerjee, who is contesting the September 30 by-poll to retain her post, paid a sudden visit to a Gurudwara in the area and interacted with the locals.
Targeting the chief minister over post-poll violence, Priyanka Tibrewal said that the people of the state have the right to live but this right is being taken away by Mamata Banerjee and her party.
Sources in the BJP said the party is preparing its battle line, considering the character of the voters in Bhowanipore.
