The protesters blocked interior streets and entrance to the Mint Bridge leading to a traffic snarl, forcing the 1,000 personnel strong police force deployed at the spot to intervene and remove them.
At least 20 rappers, singers and hip-hop dancers performed spontaneously. They rapped in Tamil, Hindi and English while many students and migrant workers joined them to protest against the CAA and NRC.
The protest went off peacefully without any untoward incident.
