Only one of three COVID strains of B.1.617 first detected in India now a 'variant of concern': WHO

WHO said that available findings for lineages B.1.617.1 and B.1.617.2 were initially used to designate B.1.617 a global Variant of Concern (VOC) on May 11 this year.

B.1.617 COVID-19 variant, first detected in India, now found in 53 countries: WHO

WHO has declared B.1.617 as a "variant of concern" and the update noted that this variant has "increased transmissibility" and disease severity is "under investigation".
