This marks the sixth fatality within a span of just over two months in the area, as these relentless attacks continue to plague riverside communities.
On receiving information, locals and fire services personnel reached the spot and launched a search operation in the evening.
The deceased was identified as Gangadhar Tarei of Gagharadia. In the last fortnight, estuarine crocodiles have killed three persons including a 10-year-old boy in villages near Bhitarkanika.
Tikarpada villagers blamed the Forest department for the fatal incident and demanded adequate compensation to the next of kin of the deceased.
