Jain also said that the protesting jewellers will make a representation to district collectors against the gold hallmarking rules.
The 'token strike' against HUID was called by the All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council and supported by various associations across the country, including Gujarat.
The All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council claimed that the strike will be supported by 350 associations and federations from all four zones of the entire gems and jewellery industry.
The jeweller or wholesaler who has given the job work has to take the registration and send jewellery for hallmarking.
A decision in this regard was taken after a meeting chaired by Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal with industry stakeholders.
The government had extended the deadline for mandatory hallmarking of gold jewellery and artefacts by over four months to June 1, 2021 in July 2020.
