Before meeting Jaishankar, Blinken held talks with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on a range of bilateral and regional issues including the security situation in Afghanistan.
In addition to his trip to New Delhi, Blinken will also travel to Kuwait City during his foreign trip from July 26 to 29.
Blinken is expected to hold bilateral talks with his counterpart External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
The discussions between the US Defence Secretary and the NSA would be the first major interaction between the two sides during the visit.
