The Jammu and Kashmir Police are planning to cover the entire Union Territory under 24x7 CCTV surveillance to ensure efficient law and order and foil militant attacks.
Jammu & Kashmir Police head constable Ali Mohammad was fired upon by militants at around 5:35 pm near his residence at Hasanpora in the Bijbehara area of Anantnag.
While 134 youth joined militancy this year, 168 militants are now active in the Valley, which is the lowest in the last three decades of militancy in the region.
The top cop also said the political leaders' comments are unlawful and the law will take its own course in the matter.
A State Investigation Agency (SIA) has been constituted within the Jammu and Kashmir Police for speedy investigation and prosecution in terror-related cases and coordinating with central agencies.
After the eruption of militancy in Kashmir, security forces used to dismiss militants as a policy to not bring them into the limelight while they were still at large.
