After a previous news report on the same last February, authorities removed the garbage from the river and its banks in August and also promised that the practice would not continue.
Speaking to The New Indian Express, N Suresh, a resident of Kottarai, said, "It has been five years since the construction of the dam began, but it is yet to be completed."
According to sources, the municipality started a bio-mining project at a cost of Rs 3.18 crore in 2019 and the contract was awarded to 'Our Land Pvt Ltd'.

The construction of the dam, which was taken up at a cost of Rs 108 crore in 2016, was slated for completion within two years
