On Wednesday, Jeypore and Borrigumma blocks witnessed wind blowing at a speed of 80 km per hour and rains for around one hour in the evening.
While the Capital recorded 36.9 degree Celsius on Wednesday, it was 37 degrees in the silver city. The condition has been attributed to deficit rainfall of 26 per cent between June 1 and July 17.
The shortfall is unlikely to be compensated soon as the India Meteorological Department officials ruled out heavy rainfall activity till July 17.
Rainfall occurred at most places in north Odisha and at isolated places in southern region from Saturday to Sunday.
