Fighting raged for a third day between the Islamic State group and Kurdish forces in Syria after IS attacked a prison housing jihadists, with the violence killing nearly 90 people. The jihadists seized weapons and freed several fellow IS fighters, said a Britain-based monitor, which relies on sources inside war-torn Syria.

India reaches out to China's People's Liberation Army after Arunachal boy goes missing near LAC

The Indian Army has sought assistance from China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) to locate missing teenager Miram Taron on their side and return him as per established protocol, sources in the defence establishment said on Thursday.  Air India Express cabin crew to go on indefinite strike from January 15

The cabin crew of Air India Express, which was recently acquired by Tata Sons, will go on an indefinite strike from Saturday as the talks held with the assistant labour commissioner failed to yield any results. The Air India Express Employees Union (AIXEU) gave a call for an indefinite strike as the management curtailed the contract period of the cabin crew from five years to one year.

Pongal curbs: Tamil Nadu allows Jallikattu, bars temple entry

With #Covid19 cases on the rise, #TamilNadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday announced the extension of existing lockdown norms till January 31 and imposition of a few more restrictions. Significantly, places of worship will be closed for public use from January 14 to 18, when #Pongal is celebrated, and a complete lockdown will be imposed on January 16 (Sunday). While the State has also postponed semester exams indefinitely, jallikattu events have been permitted for Pongal, with restrictions.

125 passengers on charter flight from Italy test positive for Covid in Amritsar

As many as 125 passengers, who travelled on a chartered flight from Italy to Amritsar, have tested positive for Covid-19 on arrival. The flight with 179 passengers landed in Amritsar on Thursday. Director of Amritsar Airport VK Seth told The New Indian Express that the chartered flight from Rome landed at the Amritsar International Airport at 11.20 am.

Air India Express cabin crew call for indefinite strike from January 15 

The Air India Express cabin crew have decided to launch an indefinite strike from January 15 if the management does not address their concerns. Over 500 cabin crew under the Air India Express Employees Union (AIXEU) are likely to strike work. They allege that the management has shown discrimination while issuing contracts.
