The BJP’s manifestos in Bengal and Puducherry have already promised to replicate the annual assistance of Rs 6,000 given to farmers for fishermen as well if it comes to power.
Allaying concerns over CAA, Rajnath also assured that citizenship of Indian nationals will be protected irrespective of their religion.
"Mamata Banerjee blocked the benefits to farmers envisioned by the central government through PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi. Farmers applied, but the state government didn't approve," Patra alleged.
After the PM-Kisan was launched on February 24, 2019, as many as 37,00,578 farmers registered their names under the scheme
Within the government, the stubborn demand of the farmers for repealing the laws, coupled with the threat to choke Delhi by blocking the highways, is being seen as an outright blackmail.
Claiming that 70 lakh farmers in the state have been deprived of the benefits of the programme, Dhankhar said the "palpable injustice" to them is "poor politics".
