Goa polls: In Poriem, it's all in family as ex-CM Pratapsingh Rane's daughter-in-law contests on BJP ticket
While the 83-year-old senior-most politician of Goa is not contesting the Assembly elections this time, the BJP has fielded his daughter-in-law Deviya Rane from Poriem.
A Congress leader on Friday confirmed that the former CM has told the party that he will not be contesting the February 14 election.
Sawant said that the cabinet has decided to give status of a permanent cabinet minister to Rane, who is a former chief minister and ex-speaker of the Goa legislative Assembly.
Devendra Fadnavis said the people of Goa will not accept the Trinamool Congress-Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party alliance.
