Residents of Mahatma Gandhi Nagar in Tindivanam had placed a Vinayagar idol at a location designated to be a public park, sources said.
However, the court said an alternative site for constructing the temple can be identified and after construction, the deities can be shifted there.
Vinayagan was seen in Gudalur and Bandipur several times in the last five years following which he was captured by the Karnataka forest department in June 2023 and taken to the camp.
He also asked the deputy directors of health to implement the provisions of mosquito control activities of the Public Health Act 1939.
In the guidelines, the CPCB had asked the states to immerse idols in designated artificial confined tanks/ponds as far as possible.
A public interest litigation filed requesting the district administration not to permit processions carrying Lord Vinayagar idols, made of plaster of paris and other chemicals.
