Lalthangliana, who is also the Health Minister, urged authorities of schools, colleges, universities and other institutions to adhere to COVID-19 protocols.
A functionary of the students' outfit said that the protest was held in front of Dayanand College and Swami Ramanand Teerth University Sub-Centre in Peth.
At a review meeting on Tuesday, the Minister said that 12,856 students from Classes IX and X were studying in BC hostels.
Certain mandatory restrictions will be in place. Classrooms in schools and colleges will permit the presence of 50% of students on each day on an alternating basis.
Colleges have been asked to ensure uniformity in conducting medical examination and publishing results.
As per the state government's mandate, colleges will open up for classes and will accommodate final year students first.
